Mahogany Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass formed when silica-rich lava cools very quickly after a volcanic eruption. Because the lava hardens so rapidly, crystals do not have enough time to grow, creating a smooth glass-like rock called obsidian. The reddish-brown “mahogany” patterns are caused by tiny amounts of iron and other minerals mixed into the lava during cooling, while the darker areas remain typical black obsidian.

Mahogany obsidian is often associated with removing negative energy and encouraging self-confidence. Many also believe it helps provide emotional stability, courage, and balance during difficult situations.  Historically, obsidian varieties were valued by ancient cultures for tools, weapons, and mirrors.  Perfect for weapon-weilding fighters.
